I haven't posted anything in over a week, not because I haven't been making cards; I've been busy doing just that, and doing layouts to teach at the store and for the monthly kit club. I'm also making cards for a card class I'll be teaching October 24th, at By Design. I'll share some of what I've been working on. Enjoy and as always, TFSB 
We're serving up Lemon Meringue this month at Le Bistro Rose Kit Club. The layouts, card and painted wooden frame are my contributions to the meal. We are given a kit, filled with great papers, cardstock, ribbon and embellishments, and asked to work exclusively from that. We are able to add paints and a few other items. Talk about challenging your creativity, but at the end of the day, I can say that I had a great time. I participated as one of the designers for yesterday's Sunday Night Layouts (SNL) at By Design Scrapbook Boutique. Here's my layout. I wanted to make the layout as bright and fun as that beautiful summer day was. The green, blue and orange combination helped to achieve that objective.

So much fun; that's all I can say. Yesterday, while I was in Michael's, with a coupon of course, I saw this paper mache book. I thought about the Lumiere paints, distressing inks, distressed Stickles and Tattered Angels glimmer mist I had at home, and the crackle paint I could purchase at By Design Scrapbook Boutique and WALLAHHHHH, here's what I came up with. I'm going to store paraphenalia and extra pictures from our vacation inside the book.

This is my son's last year in middle school and I'm sure the last year that he'll let me make stuff to put on his school locker. I'm going to take advantage of it too. He's playing football again this year, #37, so I cut this football and will be adding magnet strips to the back of it, to hang on his locker door. I cut the football from the Sports Mania Cricut cartridge, layered it then covered it with Mod Podge to perserve it. He was actually pretty excited when he saw it; I was excited that he was excited. I told you, I'm going to take advantage of this year.

Sometimes, I can't get enough of certain patterned papers; such was the case with the papers below. I had a few cards to make last week, for different ocassions. I used the papers on the first card and thought, "hmmm, I really like this paper"; so as you can see, I used it each time.

One of my son's classmates had a pool party this past weekend. The party invitations had the cutest flip flops on them; very bright, festive and summery. I looked at the invitation a couple of times and thought I'd incorporate flip flops onto her card. I always have such a good time when I'm able to do really "girlie" type project, so I had a blast with this card.

My little nephew turned 2 last week, so I wanted to make a special card for his big day.
Here are pictures from the card class I taught this evening. The theme for this class was "some to keep and some to share". I was trying to encourage the ladies to make cards and share them, so we came up with the idea that we would make 2 of the same cards for a couple of the patterns, so that the ladies could keep one of them, while sharing the other with a family member, relative or friend. Well, let me tell you; it didn't quite work that way. Some of the ladies stamped a different sentiment on the other card, so that they wouldn't be identical, thus justifying the reason for keeping them both. One of the ladies, decided she'd give one to her husband and one to her daughter, because they were in the same house and then she'd be able to see the cards all the time. Three of the ladies, that were there together, decided they would share the cards with each other; the end result being they'd still have the same number of cards and the sames pattern; LOL. We'll have to try this sharing thing again. But anyway, we had a wonderfun time and I'm looking forward to the next class. Stay tuned.
I will be teaching a card class tomorrow night at By Design Scrapbook Boutique. The ladies will make 8 cards, with 6 different designs. For two of the cards, we will make the same card twice. We're doing this so that the ladies will have cards to share. During the last class, I learned that the ladies don't share the cards they make in my classes because, according to them, they want to keep them to look at, put in their office at work or in their quiet "girly" space. I asked them if they would share the cards if we made multiples of some designs; their answer was yes. We're going to give it a try. I hope that the multiples will go in the mail Friday morning. It's amazing the things you learn while scrapping with other ladies. I thought that was so funny. I will post the 6 cards after the class. After I do that, I need to get started on my items for the September kits. Aaron is a wonderful little boy, whose mother is in my Sunday School class. Aaron's birthday is this weekend and he will be a year old. He is such a warm and happy toddler, though some Sundays he's pulling my hair, blowing spit bubbles in my face and choking me with my very own necklace. Still, the next Sunday, I'm excited to see him all over again. We have decided as a class, to celebrate his wonderful year of life. He will be having surgery next month, so we're all praying for him.

Last Friday night my girlfriends and I celebrated another "Birthday Club Night Out" and of course, Gringo's was on the menu. These are my best friends. My baby sister is on the end in the orange shirt and my scrapping buddy and enabler is in the red shirt. We have all been friends for many, many years and we this is our 15th year of "Birthday Club Night Out" celebrations. I am planning to scrap the pictures this weekend, so I'll share the layouts with you. 
I had plans to be a scrapping over-achiever this week. I had planned to combine two challenges into one card, but it didn't work out quite that way. I wanted to participate in the 2Sketches4You, by using the sketch, and the UseIt challenge, by using the colors. alphabet stickers and a tool I hadn't used in 6 months. Well, I did manage to use the colors, but I couldn't find just the right alphabet sickers; so I threw in the towel and went full speed ahead with the other challenge. 
Talk about paradise; we did a jungle tour excursion while on vacation. My son wasn't old enough to have his own ATV, so we agreed to share. One problem, he didn't let me drive. There were a couple of times when I thought he was trying to get rid of me; he would take off really fast, before I had a chance to hold on and then he did this "spinning out" thing in the sand dunes. He almost succeeded that time. Next year, he'll be a little older and maybe we won't have to carpool.
My middle sister had a birthday last week, her 46th; not sure she wants me to tell that. I've had the houndstooth CuttleBug embossing folder for a while; yes, I had to have it when I saw it in Jo-Ann's, no, I hadn't used it until last weekend. What can I say, I am a hoarder of all things scrap related. Anyhow, I saw this great sheet of houndstooth pattern paper and the thoughts started clicking. I embossed the white cardstock with the CuttleBug folder. I also bought these great Prima flower stems. I just love them, don't you.

Here's another card I'll be teaching in the August 13th card class. When I saw the silhouette flowers on this pattern paper, I immediately thought of the silhouette feature on the George Cricut cartridge. I think they play nicely together.

I was in Jo-Ann's and Michaels looking at clear stamps, but you can't tell anyone because it's a secret. I said I wasn't going to buy anymore stamps "this year", because I've got a couple of file cabinets full of them. But I found these great sets of memories, travel and laughter stamps and they were on SALE. So to not just file them away with the others, I rushed home and made some cards. Here's one of them:

I am making some cards for the card class I'll be teaching August 13th at By Design Scrapbook Boutique. When I saw this black tulle ribbon, I began planning a card around it. I think tulle adds a certain elegance to anything. Combine tulle with black and hot pink and you've got a elegant card.

When I saw this stamp, I thought to myself, how true. I also starting thinking about a card, something with soft summer colors. Can you tell that I'm hooked on card making: I see a stamp and think about the card possibilities. Hmmmm, might need a 12-step program. While I ponder that, I like the end results and I hope that you do.

I keep telling myself that I need to make a card, without using a border punch. Well, I failed miserably on this card. It was like my arm had a mind of its own; it kept going to the drawer where I store my border punches. I like the way the card turned out, so I won't be too upset with myself.

I don't generally like the western looking patterned paper, but I saw this sheet of paper and it was screaming at me to make a card with it; so, I did. The dark colored cardstock looks black, but it's actually navy blue. Doesn't this make you thing of a picnic table? Hmmm, I getting a little hungry.

I was supposed to complete a few cards before I left for vacation, but with trying to get ready for that and an out-of-town family reunion, I didn't get a chance to. Needless to say, I've been burning the midnight oil since I've returned. I am hoping for some scrapping time this weekemd; we'll see.
But anyway, here are the cards I completed this week. I just love this brown and Tiffany blue. I think these are my favorite colors of the summer. 
It's been a few weeks since I have posted anything, but I've been busy creating. I took pictures of the other projects and I tried a different method of uploading my pictures. The new method didn't quite work for me and I lost the pictures and the cards had already been mail. These were the only two remaining.
I bought 4 sheets of very pretty paper this past weekend at Archivers and I couldn't wait to get home to play with the paper. I made both of these cards from one of the double-sided sheets. I like the way they turned out. I may a little biased because pink and green are my favorite colors.

This past weekend, I had my very own Friday night scrapfest. I started about 7:30 that evening and scrapped until 2:00 Saturday morning and I had a wonderful time. I don't know what they put in Dr. Pepper, but let me tell you, it gave me the boost I needed; I'm sure the Pepperidge Farm cookies helped. I was pretty wired after that, so though I knew at midnight that it was time to stop; the creativity wouldn't stop and I hate to waste creativity.

I needed to make a card for a friend this week, so I thought I'd use the CardPatterns' sketch for the week. I really like the sketch and I was pleased with the way the card turned out. I hope the card lifts my friend's spirit.

This is what my son's loves about visiting relatives in the country; he has plenty of open rode to ride in the dune buggy and on the ATV, with wild abandonment. He loves speed and there's never a thought of danger on his mind. I only hope that when he's riding, he here's my low voice in his conscience, telling him to slow down and to be careful. I told him this was going to be the summer of 'no emergency room visits'. We'll see how that plan plays out.

I created this layout about a month ago, for a class I was teaching and was waiting for just the right girly pictures. So what better girly pictures, then me with my mom and sisters. We're all very girly girls. 
What great paper, black and white, and what better to coordinate with it, then pink. I was playing around with some stamps last night and here's what I designed. I am going to get a lot of use from these stamps this summer. Now that school is out, and I'm no learning about the Civil War, water erosion, wave patterns and formation and right angles, or be the homework warden, I have so much more time to play. I think I was looking forward to the summer break almost as much as my son was. 
Here is my take on the 2S4U sketch for the card showdown. I wasn't real sure about what I wanted to do with this sketch, but as I started playing, the card just came together. I think it's very festive and summery; I like the way it turned out.
