ABOUT ME

Houston, Tx, United States
Hi. Welcome to my site; my name is Karen. I'm an avid scrap-booker, card-maker, and paper-crafter. I have been scrapbooking for about 12 years and I am just as excited now as when I first started. Scrapbooking is the instrument I use to record some of the greatest and most special moments of my family’s life. I love buying patterned paper, ribbon and embellishments, taking pictures of my son, teaching scrapbooking and hosting workshops. This hobby continues to be an obsession for me and it continues to challenge me to be a better scrapper. I love the escape that scrapbooking affords me and the fun it has brought into my world. I have one child, a son; he's 15 years old and he is my favorite scrapbook subject. I hope that you enjoyed my site and will visit again soon.

Lord Have Mercy Challenge - MTSC58

I have challenged myself to participate in multiple challenges per week and have been scouring challenge site. While blog-hopping, I came across the Lord Have Mercy sketch blog and just thought their sketches were great. I jumped in and took the challenge and here's my take on this week's sketch.

Cricut Card Challenge 1-21-10

I decided to play along with the Cricut Card Challenge this week. I used the Mini Monograms cartridge to cut the circles, in different dimension. I used a "Thinking of You" stamp that I've had for a while and some paper from my stash. I really had a good time with the "S" card and will be playing along again.

Monday Mojo Challenge #3 - 2010

WOW, I'm 3 for 3 and going strong. I have to confess that I participated in the challenge last week, but I missed the posting window. I didn't realize it was on Eastern tinme, so while I thought I was "doing it", I had one of those duhhhh moments. Well, needless to say, I wasn't going to let that happen this week. I worked on my challenge ahead of time, was going to post last night but had technical difficulties, so I made up my mind that I wouldn't go to bed without posting first. Here is my take on the sketch.

A Song From my Heart

Sometimes you find the perfect ribbon and you just want to design a card or layout to fit the ribbon, well this two sided lavendar and green ribbon was it. I saw this ribbon in the store and couldn't put it down, so I started looking for papers to match. I had a very old stamp that I thought would be perfect. It all came together just like I thought it would. However, I'm still playing with my new camera, so I couldn't get the color just right.

Sweet 16

My godchild , Teighlor, turned 16 this year; wow 16. It seems like just yesterday her parents were bringing her home from the hospital. I would go and see her and just sit and hold her for hours and now she's in high school. I made a fun, girly card for her because she is very girly; definitely a "diva" in the making. I hope she liked her card because I had a good time making it.

Enjoy and TFSB,

Special Event

A card for a special ocassion. This is a card I created for the "Love is In The Air" card class I taught on Saturday at By Design Scrapbook Botique. Generally when I think of Valentine's Day, I think of red and white, but I think I like the pink and brown even more.
Enjoy and TFSB,

A Look at Time

Birthdays are the perfect opportunity to look back over time and look forward to wonderful times to come. I saw this antique clock rub-on in my stash and thought the warm colors would be great for a masculine birthday card.

Early Valentine's

Michael's had a 50% off coupon last week and there were a few border punches on my wish list. One of them was the Martha Stewart deep border heart punch. Can you tell that I was anxious to play with it. I hope I keep my momentum for Valentine's cards, because I've still got quite a few more to do.

Love is in the Air

I love Valentine's Day. I make lots of cards for family and friends, so I wanted to get an early start. Before I start making cards for my son's friends, I wanted to make something very girly, so here's what I came up with.

Monday Mojo Challenge #1 - 2010

A new year and a new personal commitment to participate in a challenge every week. I started out with a bang in 2009, but about April my challenge participation begin dropping. So, I thought the best way to get going again was just to jump right in. When I saw the Monday Mojo challenge, I loved the sketch and wanted to play along. Here's my take on the sketch.

Winter Birthday

It seems whenever I make cards, of any kind, in December, I always reach for red papers. Well, this time was no different, but I wanted to add a very feminine touch; what better way to do that than with delicate lace ribbon, a lace butterfly and flourishes. I think the person that received this card enjoyed it; I certainly enjoyed making it for her.
