ABOUT ME

Houston, Tx, United States
Hi. Welcome to my site; my name is Karen. I'm an avid scrap-booker, card-maker, and paper-crafter. I have been scrapbooking for about 12 years and I am just as excited now as when I first started. Scrapbooking is the instrument I use to record some of the greatest and most special moments of my family’s life. I love buying patterned paper, ribbon and embellishments, taking pictures of my son, teaching scrapbooking and hosting workshops. This hobby continues to be an obsession for me and it continues to challenge me to be a better scrapper. I love the escape that scrapbooking affords me and the fun it has brought into my world. I have one child, a son; he's 15 years old and he is my favorite scrapbook subject. I hope that you enjoyed my site and will visit again soon.

Once Upon A Time

High school prom; what an awesome time. I created these two (2) layouts to commemorate a special time for a very special young lady. These layouts gave me a chance to pull out and use the Cricut Storybook cartridge, that I had to have months ago and didn't remember purchasing. I also used a Martha Stewart deep border punch for the hearts border. I guess this is part of using my stash.
Enjoy and TFSB,
Karen

Mickie & Minnie

I spent some time with my 3 year old nephew and 1 year old niece on Thanksgiving and the Mickey Mouse show was the highlight of the evening. After watching how excited my niece got at watching Mickie & Minnie, I thought I would make something to hang of each of their doors.

Mickie & Minnie were cut using the Disney Mickey & Friends cartridge and the letters were cut using the Plantain Schoolbook cartridge. Of course I had to add a little bling to the Minnie page, of course.

Bahama Mama

Here are a few vacation layouts. They were made using the new Lost and Found line from My Mind's Eye: love it, love it. Though, the glitter was everywhere by the time I finished the layouts. I cut the palm trees with the SYI Cricut cartridge, then sprayed them with glimmer mist. I also used glimmer mist for the plan colored flowers on the bottom layout.

Layouts for July Kit Club

I wanted to share the items I designed using the July kit, Tiramisu, from LeBistro Rose Scrapbooking Kit Club. I wasn't so sure about this kit at first glance; I drew a blank, but once I pulled all the supplies out, spread it on my workstation, the ideas started coming to mind. I wanted to do some painting, so I picked up a paper mache' mailbox at Hobby Lobby and painted it using Tim Holtz' alcohol inks: fun, fun, fun. Then, I wanted to do a couple of layouts, so I grabbed a couple of pictures from last summer's vacation and got busy.
Enjoy and TFSB

Summer Layouts

Well I have finally scrapped some pictures from last summer's vacation in Cancun. I printed the pictures months ago and put them to the side, but I needed to get some layouts done. I used one of the Bo-Bunny summer lines and lots of bright flowers.

A Night of Glitz

A night out with my son, family and friends. This year marked the 50th year of our church's existence and we've had an awesome year of activities and festivities. One of those festivities was a formal gala; we had an absolutely wonderful time. So, of course, I did what I always do, I scrapped those pictures in the these two layouts.
Enjoy,

I know it's been a while since I've posted, I've been busy filling orders for cards, working on a scrapbook project for a friend's daughter, painting and decorating letters for my new niece's bedroom and working on projects for the November LeBistro kits. My projects are posted below. I'm glad to be back on the blog and hoping to get lots of scrapbooking time over the Thanksgiving holiday because I have lots of new pictures to scrap.

I have some new toys: Nestabilities. I couldn't wait for them to be delivered. There's a funny story that goes with this, I'll have to tell you some time.

Another girl's night out, celebrating a birthday and a job promotion with good food and lots of laughter.

Homecoming week at my son's school. This will probably be the last school year he'll let me come on campus and into the building with a camera. That's okay, I'll just get a zoom lens; got to get those photos.

One of my favorite pictures of my son. He certainly does have the key to my heart. Alcohol inks is one of my new favorite things. I used a few different browns and gold to color the paper mache heart.
