ABOUT ME

Houston, Tx, United States
Hi. Welcome to my site; my name is Karen. I'm an avid scrap-booker, card-maker, and paper-crafter. I have been scrapbooking for about 12 years and I am just as excited now as when I first started. Scrapbooking is the instrument I use to record some of the greatest and most special moments of my family’s life. I love buying patterned paper, ribbon and embellishments, taking pictures of my son, teaching scrapbooking and hosting workshops. This hobby continues to be an obsession for me and it continues to challenge me to be a better scrapper. I love the escape that scrapbooking affords me and the fun it has brought into my world. I have one child, a son; he's 15 years old and he is my favorite scrapbook subject. I hope that you enjoyed my site and will visit again soon.

Prayer Box Project, Challenge #4

My girl friends and I are taking turns issuing challenges. This challenge was to use some our scraps from our stash, dry or wet embossing and a technique or tool that we had not ever used before. I decided to use this challenge to make a prayer box. I needed a prayer box for a member of my Sunday School class. I pulled the papers from my stash of used paper. I dry embossed the sentimemt box on the top of the prayer box and for my technique, I haven't done a box like this before, so I used this as a new technique. I'm a bit late in posting, though I completed the project six (6) days ago. Sorry ladies, I'll do better with posting next time.

Tennis Shoe Bling

Our team challenge was to create a shaped card, using polka dots, bling and ribbon. I think I met all the criteria and had a blast doing it. I created a high top tennis shoe card and added my favorite embellishments, ribbon and bling. There's a special 3 year-old little girl that I'll be sending to. I hope that you'll enjoy this as much as I enjoyed preparing it. TFSB, Karen

Challenge #2

Hi there my fellow scrappers: Well, we decided to do another round, so here's the sketch for round 2 of our challenge. We used Karen Giron's sketch from the The Sweetest Things weekly sketch challenge. Below is my interpretation of that sketch. I really dug in my stash; the flower is my Heidi Swapp flower stash from a couple of years ago. The button is from my "button craze" stash and the dimensional pearls used to fill the center of the button are as old as the button. This was a fun challenge. Thanks for stopping by.

Challenge #1

I, along with some of my scrapping girlfriends, have started working on bi-weekly challenges. We're trying to use our stashes, work on our creativity and for me, play with my new Silhouette, so that I can justify the purchase. Well, anyway, the above sketch from Valerie Simon was our first sketch. Below is my version of the sketch. Thanks for stopping by,

Thank You

January 05, 2013

I've been busy creating, but obviously not posting. What's wrong with that I ask myself. It seems I really enjoy the creative process, but I'm not the best at downloading pictures from my camera and uploading them. So, I thought I'd play catch-up.

Playing Catch Up

I'm playing catch up with my posting. I tried to remember to always take puctures, but don't always get around to posting them timely. It's about 2:00 in the morning, so while I don't have a lot to say about each of the projects, I wanted to take the time to share. I hope you enjoy. Thanks for stopping by, Karen

Rainy Saturday Day of Card Making

Today was a rainy and cold Saturday, so I spent the whole day in my craft room, with snacks, great movies on the Hallmark channel and paper, ribbon & flowers. I used this day to create the cards I needed for the month of March. WOW, it was like a marathon, but I finished. What a GREAT DAY!!!!!!!!!

First Set of 2012 Birthday Cards

Hi there my blogging community. I've been busy, but found some time to work on my January birthday cards; the issue has been finding the time to upload the pictures. I hope to do better. In the meantime, here are pictures of my cards. The flowers on these cards were made using the Flower Shoppe and Sophie Cricut cartridges.
I had such a good time playing with the flowers, layering, distressing and blinging them up.
Enjoy and TFSB,
Karen

Latest projects

Happy New Year!!!! It's been a while since I've posted, but not because I haven't been crafting; though, not as much as I'd like to. Anyway, here are a couple of my latest projects. I'm trying to get ready for all the January birthdays, so I've got 4 more birthday cards to make in the next week. The Christmas tags were made to be attached to some lightbulbs I found at Hobby Lobby. I filled them with small candy pieces. They made great Christmas trinkets.

I'm so glad you stopped by and I hope that you enjoy my last few projects.

More September birthdays; whew, only one more to go, 9/30/11, so I better get started on that card. This was a fun card to make and I am totally stuck on this peachy color, so you'll be seeing more of it.

Matron's Birthday

September is a big birthday month for me, in addition to me and my twin brother turning 50, one of the older ladies at my church, whom I love dearly, is celebrating her 78th birthday. I didn't want to miss the opportunity to remember her on her special day.
Enjoy and TFSB,
Karen

Grandparents' Day

Hi there; wow, it's been a few weeks since I've posted. Life has been busy, but I have to make time to scrap. I had a quiet Saturday afternoon before Grandparents' Day, so I grabbed a Dr. Pepper, some snacks and headed to my craft room to design a card for my parents from my son.
TFSB and Enjoy,
Karen
