I wanted to send a note of encouragement to a church member, following a serious car accident. Yellow usually cheers me up, so I thought I would give it a try and add it to this card. What do you think?
ABOUT ME
- KarensKreativeTreasures

- Hi. Welcome to my site; my name is Karen. I'm an avid scrap-booker, card-maker, and paper-crafter. I have been scrapbooking for about 12 years and I am just as excited now as when I first started. Scrapbooking is the instrument I use to record some of the greatest and most special moments of my family’s life. I love buying patterned paper, ribbon and embellishments, taking pictures of my son, teaching scrapbooking and hosting workshops. This hobby continues to be an obsession for me and it continues to challenge me to be a better scrapper. I love the escape that scrapbooking affords me and the fun it has brought into my world. I have one child, a son; he's 15 years old and he is my favorite scrapbook subject. I hope that you enjoyed my site and will visit again soon.

The Gangs All Here
I've been so busy making cards lately, that my scrapbooking has begun to pile up, so I thought I'd take a break and do some scrapbooking. I have been wanting to complete the scrapbook for last summer's vacation, so it felt pretty good to get another layout completed.

All Ocassion Card
I generally don't like purple, but I think I've grown to love it over the summer. I've seen so many pretty papers in purple or shades of purple; and purple and green, I simply could not resist.

Many Thanks
This is a remake of a card I've done before, but this time I thought I'd add flowers and stagger the sentiment. It looks like a totally different card. Pretty neat, huh?

Dreamsicle
Does this card remind you of a dreamsicle? That's what I thought about when I saw the patterned paper and I knew I had the perfect orange ribbon to match it. This card is going to be included in a boxed set of cards for every ocassion. Enjoy.

Birthday Bash
I was going through a magazine, saw something that caught my eye and thought, they gave me an idea for a card, and here it is. Isn't that funny, how you're looking at something and it inspires your creativity and the color theme. I started thinking that the idea wouldn't come together well with the swirls on the paper, but I was pleased with the outcome. I hope you enjoy it too.

Get Well Soon
Have you ever looked at something so much and didn't see anything, well, I did that with this black and white print, then came up with the perfect idea for it. I decided to make an envelope card and add a sunflower to match the cardstock. I really like the way it turned out; don't you?

Glitz & Glitter for Sisters
My baby sister had her 43rd birthday in July. WOW, my baby sister turning 43 is scary because that means I'm getting older. Anyway, I wanted to do something FABULOUS for her birthday, considering she gave us specific requirements for her cards; did I actually say that and possibly imply that she is a tad bit bossy; umph.... I really enjoyed making her card, but I couldn't afford a gift after making this card, so I was glad she enjoyed it.

Challenge #12
Challenge #12 was to use the notebook from the Fabulous Finds Cricut cartridge. We could make either a card or a journaling notebook; I chose to do a notebook because I buy lots of them. Well, I won't be buying them anymore, I'll just power up my Cricut, and get busy. I don't usually use purple, but I had these beautiful Bazzill Brisbane flowers and I wanted to use them. So, I started with the flowers and worked backwards. Hope you like it.

Sympathy Card
There are always those cards that I don't like to make, well sympathy cards are one of them. I always struggle with what to say on the inside of the card and I spend lots of time putting the colors together to make sure that the cards are uplifting and encouraging. I hope this one was.

Birthday Goes Round
I was going to be on vacation for my mother's birthday, but I couldn't leave without making her card. I wanted to practice with making a round card and figured this was a good ocassion. I like the way it turned out, though in the picture, the flower colors look a little darker than the card. They were actually a perfect match. I told my mom not to open it until her birthday, but I have a feeling she peeked.

Summertime Pinks
I wanted to play with some new fun summer papers I bought, so I made this card. I don't know what I'll do with it yet, but I like the way it turned out. I sure I'll be making this card again, using other papers; what, me scraplift, you better belief it.

My Little Flower
This layout is part of a challenge. The instructions were to create a 12x12 layout, with at least one circle in the background and a famous quote. Well, I had been holding onto these pictures of Josh at the new skate park in downtown Houston; well not quite at the skate park. The skate park was so crowded, that we left after about 1 1/2 hours. As we were walking to the car, we noticed there was a hill heading down to buffalo Bayou, so my son, having an adventurous spirit decided that he would sit on his skateboard and ride it down the hill. As always, my camera just happened to be handy and I caught it all.
Don't know if you can read the quote, but it says "Love is the only flower that grows and blossoms without the aid of seasons". I don't know who said it, but I thought it fit the pictures perfectly and he is certainly my special flower.
I had a great time with this layout, but the challenge was being able to keep it mascline, while adding the flowers and ribbon I love so much.
I hope you enjoy it.

Challenge #10

For this challenge, Velma sent each of us a picture of a lady in black slacks, a black and white polka dot top and a red belt. She told us to use the picture as inspiration for the challenge. Well, first of all let me say how much I love black and white; throw in a splash of red and I'm thrilled. I wasn't sure what I was going to create with all of the black and white paper I've got, but I walked into my favorite scrapbook store, By Design Scrapbook Boutique, as they were unpacking some just-delivered pattern paper and what did I see; black and white polka dot paper. I saw it and thought this is perfect, so I bought a couple of sheets. I wanted to make something fun and festive, so I came up with this cute little purse-card.
I hope you like it because I had a BLAST making it. I was having such a good time with the paper, that I added a matching envelope.

Here's another card from the Fabulous Finds cartridge. This card reminds me of a cold night, with a tall mug of cocoa, a flannel throw and a scrapbooking magazine. Doesn't that just make you feel cozy all over?

Thinking of You
Tonight I didn't have any real agenda, just thought I'd play with some of my paper and the Fabulous Finds Cricut cartridge, one of my favorites. I wanted to do some shaped cards, so here's the first one I came up with. I made two of them, so I'll post the second card on a separate post.

June Birthdays
I wanted to get a head start on the June birthdays in my Sunday School class, so I thought I'd play with this paper I purchased at CKC, back in January. I remembered it when I was in Michael's today, looking at ribbon. Don't you think this ribbon is just perfect with this paper? And, you know I couldn't make a card without flowers and buttons. I only hope that my class member enjoys her card, as much as I enjoyed making it.

Summer PinWheels
Little girl birthday cards are some of my most favorite to make because I get to use lots of fun colors and embellishments. My little niece is turning 3 and when I looked at this pattern paper, I knew she would love it. I can't wait to see her expression when she opens her card.

A card or a tag; which do you think it is? If you guessed a card, you're correct. I thought I'd create a card that looks like a tag, and it opens up so that I can include a sentiment.

I love the look of simple lines, especially in my scrapbooking and cardmaking. I also love the color pink, so I combined the two and I think they make a nice pair, don't you?

I wanted to get an early start on my Mother's Day cards so I spent the day playing with some of my new papers and old embellishments. This card showcases two of my favorite colors; pink and greens.

Masculne Birthday
I am always challenged when I have to make a mature masculine birthday card. They're hard for me because I love adding flowers and ribbon to my cards. For this card, I thought of a color scheme, where I could add both of my favorite embellishments and still keep the masculine look to this card.

Happy Birthday
Summer is on it's way and I wanted to get a headstart on my summer birthday cards. I also used this card for a class I taught. I feel in love with the pattern paper the minute I was it in the store. I immediately starting thinking about ribbon and flowers I could use to embellish these papers. I like the final outcome.

Blact Tie Affair
I love black and white paper, as I guess you can tell by some of the other cards on my site. Well, I found this wonderful new black and white paper from Heidi Swapp at my local scrapbook store, and I had to buy a few sheets. I wanted to create a "springy" classy card and I think this turned out perfect. Of course I had to add my favorite embellishment: flowers.

Spring Time Birthday
Spring is finally here and what a great time to bring out the bright, bold colors. I found this bright orange ribbon at Michael's and had to have it. I got home and thought, what am I going to do with this, hmmm, I'll make a card and this is what I came up with. Isn't it just perfect for spring? I sure hope that my friend will enjoy it and as much as I enjoyed playing with my big, orange ribbon.

Challenge # 7
This challenge was really a challenge; we were asked to incorporate a clipboard into the layout. Now I have altered clipboards to hang on the wall, but never added one to a layout. I spent the first week stumped, then the second week trying to decide which photo to place on the clipboard and the last week, trying to make sure I completed the challenge by the due date. Well, I did it and I like the way the layout turned out. I hope that you will enjoy.

Church Fan Anyone
Growing up in the baptist church, you always see ladies with pretty hats, lacy handkerchiefs, beautiful shawls and eye-catching church fans. I think the fans are more for looking at and less for keeping you cool. I had some pink and black pattern paper left, I liked it so much I thought, I have to make something else, so I made a "church" fan. I'll have to test it out on Sunday, stay tuned...

Mother's Day
Ooh, pink and black for Mother's Day, how girly. Mother's Day is around the corner, so I thought I'd start playing early with some of the new paper I bought a couple of weeks ago. I know I said I wouldn't buy any pattern paper this year, but who can resist all the new colors and patterns; I can't.

"K"
Simply stated, "K"; my initial and name to some. I've been holding on to this letter K for a while, trying to decide what to do with. Low and behold, I've gotten into painting, especially Lumiere paints. I put the two together, plus some pattern paper, added a little bling and what do you know, an altered K. Isn't it fabulous.

Happy Birthday To You
What's more fun than making a birthcard for a special friend. I have always loved sending birthday cards and now I can make them and send then; and I'm having a great time. I made this card for one of my girlfriends to help her celebrate her birthday. You know how much I love flowers and I just couldn't resist using my new Cuttlebug embossing folder to create the look of seeds on the flower center. I hope that Kim enjoyed the card, because I certainly enjoyed making it for her.

You Are In My Heart
I found out about a friend, who's very ill, and wanted to do something to lift her spirits. I know for me, I love going to the mailbox and being surprised by a card from a loved one or friend, so I thought she'd like the same.
Remember always, that you don't have to do big things to let people know you're thinking about them, sometimes it's the small things that mean the most.

Celebrating CKC
My girlfriend, Velma, and I attended the Creating Keepsake Convention this year. We had a GREAT time, we took some AWESOME classes and did some shopping at the venor's fair. I wanted to do something to commemorate that event and I'd kept all of the tickets and armbans, not sure why, but they came in handy for the layout.

Airplanes
I know this is not a card or a layout, but I guess it could be considered a paper crafting project. My son had to submit a futuristic model plan as a part of a science project. He came up with the draft and I told him that he could use my supplies. Well, I didn't consider the fact that he'd want to make such an elaborate model, but I think he enjoyed putting it together. I was going to help him, but we didn't exactly see eye-to-eye on what needed to be done, so I took a backseat and just passed the supplies when he asked.
He was very pleased and proud, so was I. I think he did a fantastic job.
